JAN 24TH -- WE ARE MOVING AHEAD WITH THIS YEARS TOURNAMENT
We are happy to announce that the 2022 Timmins Invitational is a go !
Alright folks, as previously mentioned, we are fully committed to running a successful and safe tournament for everyone. This important update, will not be a surprise to many, but it looks like we'll be able to run very similarly to what we had envisioned prior to the most recent government regulations.
*** CAPACITY LIMIT IS 74 BOWLERS -- Not including volunteers or staff ***
1- Proof of vaccination Mandatory ! No exceptions. No sad stories. Just no proof, no entry. Bowlers will be given a non-tearable bracelet to wear for the weekend and must be worn at all times in the bowling alley and wed prefer if you can keep it on for the weekend. If you don't have it on, expect to be asked for proof of vaccination. As of todays date, being fully vaccinated means 2 shots... 2nd shot 14 days before the event.
2- No spectators (some available for Thursday Night High Roller and Sunday Match Play) -- This is a tough one, but due to capacity limits, only bowlers that are bowling in their respective shifts will be allowed in the bowling alley. We will keep everyone updated with stats on our Facebook page, as well as posting them online on our website (www.timminsinvitational.com)
3- Shifts -- All shifts will be capped at 72 bowlers. Will be a 4 & 4 lane draw, over 9 sets of lanes. Odds left, evens right. Pretty straight forward.
Times will remain the same for High Roller Thursday Night, Friday AM, Best Ball and Saturday AM. Saturday PM will be as soon as we can following the AM qualifying shift (usually around 3pm). We will be posting results as quick as possible so that bowlers can make their decision if they are bowling in the afternoon and let the other bowlers in for the PM shift that didn't bowl in the morning, all while keeping within capacity restrictions.
4- Best Ball - we will cap it at 37 teams to stay within the capacity limits. The 1st 37 teams on my list will get 1st dibs on spots. The top 37 teams are the teams that registered in order. Any team that currently doesn't have a partner, need to confirm their partner by Jan 30th. If not confirmed, the next team will move up. If there are cancellations or teams that back out, we will continue to go down the list. This sucks because this is one of the events I look forward to the most because it brings everyone together, but, we got to make tough decisions unfortunately.
5-- Masks -- Masks are to be worn at all times, except when bowling and while at your respective lane bar counter drinking responsibly or eating of course. If you move from your set to go to the restroom, snack bar, go visit a friend, check stats or a health break, please wear your mask. This is pretty standard practice across the province and fairly similar to what it was prior to the most recent health regulations that were implemented.
6- Sanitization -- There is bottles on each set of lanes, so if you feel the need to sanitize, it is at your disposal. The alley ball racks, balls, benches etc. will also be sanitized between each shift.
I think I got it all out there. The entry list has been updated as per below. If anything is wrong, or missing, please let me know and I will rectify. If anything changes, change of partners, change of shifts, have to back out for whatever reason, feel free to PM me, we've had a few already (but we've also gotten some new entries which is good and kind of offsets things) and we understand, no judgement, it actually just is a big help in organizing everything prior to the tournament.
If anyone has any questions, concerns or would like clarifications, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via PM.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Timmins has added some rooms to our block, so if you're still looking to book a room, there's a link below, or if you need it, just PM me.
Have a great Sunday everyone !

2022 TIMMins invitational -- entry update -- NOV 8 2021
tournament recap !
Wow !
Where to begin ?!?!
Congrats to Ryan Cowen on a great tournament and for what has to be one of the most exciting finishes in tournament history, capping a comeback by finishing with 7 strikes in a row to capture the title! Just incredible.
A huge congrats also goes out to Lance Burrows for his runner up finish! Top qualifier in our qualifying rounds, running up both sides of the ladder, and just narrowly missing out on his first championship by hanging a corner in his first ball in the 10th. Just an incredible showing.
So many great matches and finishes. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve bowled in the past years, but man was there ever so many 10th frame finishes, it was truly exciting to watch from the round of 32s all the way to finals.
Special shout out to Jean-Marie Girard, a staple in the Timmins Invitational, over 30 years straight of attending our event, this marked his last year with us. Putting his grandkids and family at the top of his list, he decided to enter the 3rd qualifying shift at the last minute, and did he ever make it count! Not only posting a qualifying score, he ran up both sides for a few matches, including an incredible 1055 triple performance against once of the best in the country, and also knocking out, arguably, the best bowler in Canada, is a hell of a showing on any given day. We wish you the best and hope to see you on the lanes down the road.
To Nat, Clint and the staff at Mid-Town Bowl, thanks again for another great weekend with some of the best hospitality in the game. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the service that they received and nothing but great comments on the new renovations.
To the volunteers, I’ve already sent them messages personally, but I can’t say it enough, THANK YOU. Running stats, counting cash, airport pick ups, doing the match play board etc. etc. etc. I am beyond thankful and as you’ve all said numerous times, we make a hell of a team and you all are people I can trust and count on year over year, so hopefully we can do this all over again next year!
To my girlfriend Jess, thanks for dealing with me through the months and months of planning, organizing, sometimes chaotic/stressful moments I go through leading up to the tournament. You’re also a driving force in making this tournament what it is. You take time away from your primary job to work the alley all weekend and you know the ins and outs and help set everything up in the systems to ensure a smooth launch and so much more behind the scenes. Lots of love for everything that you do.
Thanks to all our sponsors, as I said numerous times this weekend, without you, this event isn’t a success. This tournament has become a staple in the bowling community and we hope to count on your support moving forward as we continue to grow.
Title Sponsor – Holiday Inn Express and Suites Timmins
Gold Sponsors – Scotiabank & Mid-Town Bowl
Silver Sponsor – New Tin Shop Limited
To all the bowlers, coming from near and far, thank you for continuing to support our tournament. At the end of day, I owe it all to you as well. Without the positive feedback, word of mouth and all of you being advocates for this tournament, we wouldn’t be able to consistently deliver the prize board, competition and excitement year over year. We are a team, we are a family, and together we can do great things for the sport of 5 pin bowling. Let’s continue to work together and grow our sports to what we all know it can become.
I’m always asked what I have in store for next year, or any potential changes in the tournament. At this time, I have so many thoughts and ideas in my head, that I will need some time to brainstorm to ensure IF any changes are made, that they are met with as much excitement as possible to continue to offer an event that everyone puts at the top of their calendar in 5 pin bowling. The next few weeks will dictate a lot of what is to come, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, let’s enjoy the rest of the bowling tournament season, Regina Classic being the next stop in the tournament schedule. Best of luck to the organizing committee, volunteers, staff and bowlers this upcoming weekend in what is sure to be a world class event and some more monster numbers coming from our friends at the WCBT.
Cheers everyone!

THAT's a wrap
WHAT. A. WEEKEND !
Here comes sappy Al...
Don't know where to start...
I probably didn't say this enough throughout the weekend, but I have to thank my mom, my dad and Rheal Belanger for all the time and effort you put into making this weekend one of the most enjoyable I've ever had from an organizer and competitor stand point. I can't say how appreciative I am that you donated your time (mom - even taking a day off work) from Friday at 10am until the last ball was thrown on Sunday at 8:15pm, you were there the whole step of the way. Thank you is not enough.
To Nat and the staff at Mid-Town, thank you for being prepared and running a smooth tournament. From setting up the lanes draws, fixing lane issues in a timely manner made this event run on schedule (even early) for the first time in a long time so thank you ! Special thanks to Jess for being such a good sport, she definitely got her steps in this weekend running back and forth with tangles etc. She was there the whole weekend, if she wasn't working, she was helping with trying to fix the livestream as I was doing the live commentary for Eastlink.
To Eastlink, don't even know what to say, this was such a fun experience for myself and working with Aaron and Lily (production team) made this such a fun experience. Thanks to Bob Beaucage for volunteering to do the commentary with me during the live broadcast, it was truly tons of fun. I know the feedback we've received has been extremely positive and I can't wait to see it all (my PVR only got 5-7, so I didn't see the last hour yet). I hope you and your team enjoyed what we were able to offer and hope we can continue or potentially expand on this in the future. The fact that you came in on Thursday to set up your control centre to make it only a quick 15 minutes set up in between matches to prevent any long layover was absolutely amazing and much appreciated from the competitors. So again, thank you so much !
To our various sponsors, we couldn't have done this without you. This tournament is the premiere cash tournament in Ontario and it's in large part due to you. We might have taken a step back in entries, but I have 150% confidence that the exposure we got this year, the tournament will only keep moving forward and the stars will align next year. Thank you Holiday Inn Express and Suites Timmins, Northern Credit Union, Mid-Town Bowl and New Tin Shop Ltd.
To the weather on Thursday/Friday -- you sucked
Most importantly, keeping the best for last, thank you to the bowlers, guests, family and friends that attended in any way this weekend. Without you, we wouldn't be able to run this tournament. Without you, we wouldn't be able to help grow the sport of 5 pin bowling. This sport is alive and thriving ! Whoever says 5 pin is dying, is just plain wrong. Nearly 100 bowlers participating and travelling/driving up to 12 hours, in crappy road and weather conditions, to the Northern community of Timmins, ON to compete in a 5 pin bowling tournament and competing for a prize board worth over $25,000 (approx. Will have final number soon), is far from dying by any means. This is where we grow our sport, cash tournaments, plain and simple. Look at the success of the WCBT and the exposure they are providing for our sport out West and the Newfoundland Bowling Tour just starting to pick up steam on the east coast. We have to support each other in order to show that as a country, this sport is far from being done.
I look forward to seeing everyone again next year !
Who knows what I may have up my sleeve for next year ?!?!?!?!?!?
Feb 14, 15 and 16, 2020 -- BOOK IT !
LETS GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have to support each other in order to show that as a country, this sport is far from being done.
I look forward to seeing everyone again next year !
Who knows what I may have up my sleeve for next year ?!?!?!?!?!?

NEW title sponsor

Well here you have it folks ! We are so happy to announce that the Timmins Invitational has agreed to terms with the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Timmins on a 2 year commitment to be our Title Sponsor and Exclusive Hotel for our ever growing tournament !
That's right, we have a signed commitment for the next 2 years !
I'd like to thank Darryl Gauthier and the corporate management team with Holiday Inn Express & Suites Timmins as they made this such an easy decision. Whenever you have such quick replies, great communication and a willingness to work together, I truly believe this could be the beginning of a long relationship for both sides.
For the new people or refresher for those that didn't notice, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Timmins is located in the same parking lot as the bowling alley. So park your car, and just walk on over to the alley for your qualifying shifts etc. Tim Hortons, Wendy's, NEW Starbucks, Little Caesars, Dominoes, LCBO (think that may be important to some)... are all steps away from the location.
They are an award winning establishment and have been a huge contributor to numerous events in our community over their stay in Timmins.
Room rates will be set at $119/night. A direct link for the group booking is at the top of this page (or will be shortly). Room rates are available from Thursday night, February 14th until Sunday, February 17th, a total of 4 nights if required. If you're more conventional, you can call direct at 1-855-531-5310 and quote block code "TIB" or mention the group "Timmins Invitational 2019".
There will also be additional perks to be announced later, or perhaps you will just have to be here to find out...
That's it for now, we are excited, they are excited, so lets ensure we support this great sponsor of ours to ensure we grow and strengthen our relationship with them !
Cheers !

2018 TIMMINs invitational is in the books !
The 2018 edition of the Timmins Invitational is in the books !
Our best year EVER ! 53 teams for our Best Ball Event Friday night (max of 54, so one short of a sell out) and 147 entries into our Singles event. Over 100 bowlers from around the country participated.
This year, Cody Laycox was our champion, defeating our 2 time previous champ, Marc Goulet in this years' finals.
Our "A" side vs "B" side bracket, double elimination format was a resounding success.
Some intense matches and some even better scores were had.
Results will be posted online shortly.
I have to thank our sponsors, starting with Senator Hotels, without you on board as the title sponsor, this event wouldn't be where it is today, we thank you for your support and helping this tournament grow.
Urban Windows and Doors and Northern Credit Union, we thank you for your participation in this tournament. All of our bowlers are thankful that we have you on board as sponsors of this great event.
A thank you to the volunteers that helped throughout the weekend, a great big THANK YOU just isn't enough to describe how happy I am to have you involved and help the tournament run smoothly.
We look forward to next years' edition, some tweaks will be made, so please stay tuned, we are looking to have things finalized sooner rather then later in order for us to start marketing the tournament ASAP.
Thank you very much and all the best in the remainder of your bowling season !
Cheers !

I'm happy to report that our registrations are trending towards a record tournament for the 30+ years of the Timmins Invitational.

We have a over 100 total bowlers (not including guests) that have confirmed their participation in the singles event.
We are at a total of 53 teams for our Best Ball event on Friday night (46 was our record turnout in 2017), which leaves room for one more team to join to make it a sell out !
With just over a month to go until the tournament, we are tremendously happy with the feedback, support and excitement surrounding this tournament.
We are working on some other exciting news, so please cross your fingers for us as we try and finalize other details.
Again, if ya'll need anything, please feel free to send me a message on Facebook, post a message on our Facebook page, send me an email or whatever, I am here at your disposal.

TITLE SPONSORSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT !
Our 2018 Timmins Invitational will have some exciting changes !
FIRST CHANGE !
SENATOR HOTEL AS TITLE SPONSOR !
I'd like to thank the management team and ownership group of The Senator Hotel & Conference Centre for their generous support in helping make this "THE" best bowling tournament in Ontario. It was without hesitation that once I approached them, that they said they would be on board. So once again, THANK YOU from all of us.
With Senator Hotel being the title sponsor of our event, they also have a block of rooms reserved for us. Simply call, quote "Timmins Invitational" and you will get the rate of $119.00/night for up to 3 nights (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) of that weekend. It will be 2 queen beds in the rooms.
A few key features that the new ownership group has already established since taking over:
1- Free HOT breakfast daily.
2- Secured entrances (need key to get in and out of parking garage entrances and the use of elevators)
3- Airport shuttle service if anyone decides to fly in.
4- 24 hour room service (starting October 1st) !
5- Several cosmetic upgrades to the interior as well.
The Senator Hotel is also conveniently located across the street from the bowling center. Underground parking is available on site at no additional charge (park your car and walk the rest of the weekend).
Again thank you to the Senator Hotel, please book your room now, 705-267-6211 ! These rooms will be blocked to us until January 31, 2018.

GOLD SPONSORS!
I'd also like to welcome Northern Credit Union and Urban Windows and Doors that have joined us as GOLD Sponsorship members ! Please see the direct links to their respective websites at our SPONSORS tab above ! Northern Credit Union is truly part of the North and unlike major financial institutions they support the north directly. With branches in Timmins, North Bay, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and several other cities, feel free to drop in and see what they are about. They are truly "True North Strong". Urban Windows and Doors is located in Sudbury and expanded to Timmins about 3 years ago. They've been supporting their respective communities ever since being open and are one of, if not, the top Window and Doors company in Sudbury and now in Timmins. Their award winning service and products make them hard to compete with. If you are in the market for Windows, doors and more, give them a call, because at the end of the day "...You only want to do this once!" It's thanks to sponsors like these that make running events like these successful, so please ensure you thank them for supporting the 5 pin bowling community ! |

SINGLES FORMAT CHANGE
We are changing the format for the SINGLES portion of the tournament to an 8 game qualifying round. There will be 2 qualifying shifts, 9am and 3pm on Saturday, February 17th, 2018.
Once both shifts are completed, we will take the top 32 bowlers and they will advance to Sundays DOUBLE ELIMINATION match play brackets.
The Match Play will consists of 2 brackets, an "A" side and a "B" side. The "A" side will be a seeded round -- 1vs32, 2vs31, 3vs30 so on so forth. The "B" side will consist of a random draw that will determine the matches -- We will pull names out of a hat on Saturday evening to make the "B" side draw.
You will play your "A" side match first, then proceed to "B" side, then back and forth from "A" to "B".
If you lose on either side of the bracket, you can still WIN the tournament and be declared champion by running up the opposite of the bracket.
By making these changes, we increase the potential of the champions winnings, as their is a possibility of meeting yourself in the finals if you run up both sides (it has been done...).
We are also now paying 32 bowlers, instead of paying 24 bowlers which we have done in the past, which gives a higher potential of cashing.

WEBSITE
NEW Website ! This is just me making this, so it won't be too fancy, but hopefully a hub to post previous results, recognize sponsors, previous champions and update results throughout the weekend.

PREVIOUS CHAMPIONS
For those previous champions that come up this year, I'd love to be able to take a photo of you with our Champions Trophy and post it on our website. I did have some pictures but they were on previous phones and lost in the shuffle. So if your name is on that trophy, let's get a picture of you so we can get you some recognition.
